TWORZENIE PYTAŃ
Pytania w języku angielskim tworzymy przez inwersję, czyli szyk przestawny. Wyjątkiem są pytania o podmiot.
Dwa czasy – Simple Present i Simple Past – wymagają użycia operatora:
Simple Present – operatora do/does
John lives in Dublin. Does John live in Dublin?
They speak Russian. Do they speak Russian?
Simple Past – operatora did
I went to school here. Did you go to school here?
Amy had an accident. Did Amy have an accident?
W pozostałych czasach gramatycznych oraz konstrukcjach wystarczy sam szyk przestawny – przesunięcie czasownika posiłkowego (lub czasownika głównego is/have):
1 2 3 2 1 3
Pat is American. Is Pat American?
czasownik to be | She's 59. How old is she? |
czasownik to have | We've got two cars. Have you got two cars? |
Present Continuous | She's watching TV. Is she watching TV? |
Past Continuous | Lucy was staying with her aunt. Was Lucy staying with her aunt? |
Present Perfect | I have been to Paris before. Have you been to Paris before? |
Present Perfect Continuous | She has been learning English for 5 years. How long has she been learning English? |
Past Perfect | We had left Kate at my mum's. Where had you left Kate? |
Past Perfect Continuous | James had been living there for a year when I met him. How long had James been living there when you met him? |
be going to | They're going to leave soon. When are they going to leave? |
Future Simple | I'll help you. Will you help me? |
Future Continuous | Ann will be playing golf. Will Ann be playing golf? |
Future Perfect | This time next week I'll have lived here for 5 years. When will you have lived here for 5 years? |
czasowniki modalne | I can play the guitar. Can you play the guitar?
She should buy a new washing machine. What should she buy? |
PRZYIMKI W PYTANIACH
Spójrz na poniższy przykład polski:
Poszłam do kina z Markiem.
Jeśli zapytamy o podkreśloną część zdania, pytanie będzie wyglądało następująco:
Z kim poszłaś do kina?
Przyimek stojący przed częścią zdania, o którą pytaliśmy, “zawędrował” na początek zdania.
W języku angielskim przyimek zostaje na swoim miejscu!
I dlatego zapytamy:
I went to the cinema with Mark. Who did you go to the cinema with?

Oto inne przykłady:
I spent the money on CDs. What did you spend the money on?
She comes from Sweden. Where does she come from?
We are waiting for Douglas. Who are you waiting for?
Uwaga! W bardzo formalnym języku możliwe jest powiedzenie:
With whom did you go to the cinema?
On what did you spend the money?
