Przeczenia

 

 

 

Tworzenie przeczeń w języku angielskim polega na dodaniu partykuły not do:

 

- czasownika głównego to be:

 

She is not here.

Mark was not aware of the fact.

 

- czasownika posiłkowego to be, to have, will:

 

We were not watching TV when you phoned.

I have not seen Rita for a long time.

That will not take long.

 

- operatora

do w czasie Simple Present:

 

I do not know her.

My brother does not live here any longer.

 

did w czasie Simple past:

 

We did not go to the cinema last night.

She did not see you.

 

- czasowników modalnych:

 

You must not park here.

She cannot have been asleep.

 

 

FORMY SKRÓCONE

 

W zdaniach potocznych, zwłaszcza w mowie, rzadziej na piśmie, stosujemy formy skrócone:

 

is + not = isn't                     He isn't French.

are + not = aren't                They aren't at work.

was + not = wasn't              Mia wasn't hungry.

were + not = weren't          We weren't doing anything special.

 

have + not = haven't            I haven't read this book yet.

has + not = hasn't                Bridget hasn't got a car.

 

will + not = won't                I won't do that!

 

do + not = don't                   We don't speak English.

did + not = didn't                Susie didn't finish her school.

 

can + not = can't                  I can't swim.

could + not = couldn't        Bob couldn't play the piano when he was 10.

must + not = mustn't          You mustn't smoke here.

should + not = shouldn't    I shouldn't have gone there.

would + not = wouldn't      I wouldn't do that if I were you.

 

UWAGA!

Nie istnieją formy skrócone od następujących czasowników:

 

am + not                    I'm not hungry.

may + not                  You may not have time to go there.

ought to + not          You ought not to stay here.

 

Forma might not = mightn't istnieje, ale jest rzadko spotykana.

 

 

NO i NOT

 

Przeczenie czasownika tworzymy wyłącznie za pomocą NOT.

No możemy postawić tylko przed rzeczownikiem:

 

There are no chairs in this room. = There aren't any chairs in this room. 

We have no sugar left. = We don't have any sugar left.
