Zdania w trybie rozkazującym zawierające let’s w mowie zależnej zastępowane są zwykle zdaniami z czasownikiem modalnym should:

 

Let her say what she thinks.

He said that we should let her say what she thinks.

 

Jeśli let wyraża sugestię, propozycję, w mowie zależnej zostaje zastąpiony czasownikiem suggest + gerund:

 

Let’s ask Peter.

He suggested asking Peter.

 

Możliwe jest także użycie czasownika should po suggest:

 

He suggested that we should ask Peter.

 

 

WISH

 

W zdaniach zawierających wish czasownik właściwy nie ulega zmianie w mowie zależnej, bez względu na użytą konstrukcję:

 

‘I wish I was younger.’

She wished she was younger.

 

‘I wish she would drive more carefully.’

He said he wished she would drive more carefully.

 

‘I wish I hadn’t opened that letter.’

Lucy wished she hadn’t opened that letter.

 

 

WOULD RATHER, WOULD SOONER, IT’S (HIGH) TIME

 

Wszystkie zdania z użyciem wyżej wymienionych konstrukcji pozostają niezmienione w mowie zależnej.

 

‘It’s high time we went to bed’.

She said it was high time they went to bed.

 

‘I’d rather go alone.’

He said he’d rather go alone.

 

‘I’d sooner stay at home.’

She said she’d sooner stay at home.

 

 

AS IF

 

Nie zmieniają się także zdania z użyciem as if:

 

Mark: He looks as if he was terrified.

Mark said that he looked as if he was terrified.
